The provision of permanent covered accomodation shall provide long term security for this unique Multiple Unit.
The new shed will be a four-road shed and at least be long enough to fit the unit in without splitting it. Althugh the Class 126 and the SRPS’s Class 303 EMU shall both be housed in the shed, it will not just be a multiple-unit shed. Hauled stock shall also be housed in the building. An element of visitor access shall be provided.
As reported in previous news, the DMU Project has been reported as “complete” to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Now that the Bo’ness and Kinneil railway has been opened for passenger travel along the whole length of the line the ability to keep the unit together and available for immediate use shall be extremely useful to the Railway’s Operating Department.
The new Coaching Stock shelter where the DMU and the Glasgow “Blue Train” Class 303 EMU shall be permanently housed, in addition to other historic items of coaching stock.
